As the surrogate to Princess Renya, Astrid lives amongst royalty. Her life, however, is far from privileged. If Renya steps out of line, Astrid is the one who gets whipped. It’s a nightmare, but Astrid has no choice—she and her family are Outsiders, the lowest class of people, without magic or citizenship.
The only way out is to compete in the deadly Race of Oblivion. First, racers are dosed with the drug Oblivion which wipes their memories. Then they awake in the middle of nowhere with a slip of paper containing the race’s first clue. Whoever finds the clues first and crosses the finish line wins. That’s the only rule—racers have killed each other in pursuit of the next clue, and the punishing terrain kills even more of them. For Astrid, competing could mean death. But winning could mean freedom.
YASH EXCLUSIVE!
A note from author Julie Eshbaugh on her inspiration for these FANCASTS of the main characters from her newest book—
CROWN OF OBLIVION!
When it comes to fancasting, I've always said I would never do it for any of my books, but here I am, casting Crown of Oblivion! What changed my mind? Well, I've said I'd never do it because I've always wanted to let the reader imagine what the characters' faces might look like, but since Crown of Oblivion already has a picture of Astrid on the cover (as illustrated by the amazingly talented Jason Chan) one character's face was already out there! It made it easier to fill in the rest. Also, Ciih Baron, a wonderful reader I met through the Crown of Oblivion street team, showed me a pic of Jordi Webber, and told me she thought he would make a good Darius. I agree! So that got me thinking, and it wasn't long before I had found an actor or actress to match four of the book's characters. So here they are. I hope they fit with the images in the minds of readers. And if they don't, I hope readers can forget them completely and see the characters as they choose to see them!
